How to build a text-based website for mobile use

In February 2010 we looked at how to use the text-based coupon codes in the CMP Mobile system. Prior to that we looked at the key components of the CMP Mobile system. These included how to create a group, create a keyword campaign, set an auto responder, and more. This month CMP Mobile is back with a third demonstration on the basics of their text-messaging system.

In this final demonstration in the series that began in January 2010, Guest Presenter Brian Collins will be showing us:

  • Why mobile sites are important today
  • How to create a mobile website within the CMP Mobile system
  • How to generate a URL for your mobile site
  • How to shorten the URL to insert into text message campaign
  • How to insert url in text message campaign

By the end we will have created a mobile website on the fly that you will be able to view on your mobile phone. Webinar attendees will have an opportunity to test the mobile system live by opting in to receive this link to the mobile web page from their phone so if you can not text while on a call with your mobile phone then you will want to call in using a different phone so you can participate in the live demo. For questions about this please contact us.

SPECIAL: Text AUTOBURST to 41513 from your mobile and show up for this web cast and receive a free mobile website for your business for 30 days.

Why you want to keep Facebook friend lists under 20 people

FacebookDespite the rapid embrace of businesses to pick up Facebook as part of their digital marketing strategy, there still is a large number of people uncomfortable and not familiar with the use of Facebook, be it for personal or business use. As a result, many people are not able to benefit from the full capabilities of one of the world’s more useful social marketing tools.

Some people struggle with the idea of a single system being utilized for both personal and professional use. Many people do not understand the intricate sharing capabilities of your information on Facebook, that you can post information to be shared with only the people you choose.

For instance, you may want to post commentary on an article that only your Real Estate buddies might enjoy, but your family or bowling league friends might not need to see that. Maybe you want to post pictures of your kid’s birthday party but you don’t want ALL of your Facebook friends seeing it. Only family members and people that were there.

These are common situations we all have and fortunately Facebook is designed for you to share only what you want and with whom.

One way to achieve this is by using the Lists feature in the Friends section. The List feature enables you to create a variety of lists for various purposes. For instance, you could create lists for people you went to school with, people you work with, people you don’t know well, whatever you feel the need for you can create a list for that. You can associate the same person to more than one list and you can create as many layers and combinations you like.

For instance, I have a list called “Pic Friends” which I add friends to when I am comfortable that they would see photos I post, like of my kids especially. I also have a list called “Virtual Buddies” which are people I have never met and do not know much about, but somehow became connected. I don’t need pics of my kids in the browsers of people I do not know well, but I may still want to share harmless fun with them. Lists are perfect for this.

Later this week in our AC List Builder Webinar series we will be exploring the basic use of Lists in Facebook. In this free webinar we will cover…

  • How to create a list
  • How to add Friends to lists
  • How to share Wall Posts with lists
  • How to share Photos with lists
  • How to send Messages to lists

These core functions in Facebook are highly useful and with a little bit of effort can prove extremely useful, especially when you want to send a message out to more than 20 Friends. By keeping your lists limited to 20 people you can more easily send messages to large groups of the right people.

Using Coupon Codes in your Mobile Marketing Strategy

In January we explored specific areas in the CMP Mobile Marketing Interface. You can view the edited version of this on our Viddler channel.

This month, we are back with a follow-up episode and with guest Presenter Brian Collins, one of the founding partners of CMP Development Group. Collins has been building awareness of mobile marketing with business and auto dealerships in the Philadelphia metro and suburban areas. His vision for local businesses and consumers is for them to continue using mobile communications to interact and to make purchases.

TOPIC

The subject matter for this webinar will concentrate on the use of coupons codes in the CMP interface. Coupons are increasingly useful for everyone because they offer incentives to engage in business and with mobile technology you can place your incentives in the daily lives of people in your audience.

AutoConversion has teamed with CMP as an affiliate provider to offer limited benefits of its service to local dealers and businesses. By doing this, businesses participating in the AC Insider program offered by AutoConversion and its affiliates, benefit from mobile marketing initiatives managed by us.

As always, the webinar begins at 11:30 am EST Thursday March 4. We begin promptly going through a 5-minute orientation before diving into the material itself. Our webinars are typically recorded for edited versions to be published onto our Viddler channel.

Mobile Marketing ideas with online coupons

Mobile marketing and text messaging are becoming more and more favored with people today which means it is becoming increasingly important to consider the mobile marketing aspect of your message and product. By doing so you will find new ways to connect with people which has its benefits. But like with everything else, you want it to create the right experience so that your business can benefit.

In our next webinar we will take a first-hand look at a specific mobile marketing interface offered by CMP Development Group. We call it DD8 Mobile Marketing because of their automotive business known as DealerDominance.com. The DD8 system is a complete mobile marketing interface that enables you to drive mobile subscribers into your buying funnel.

The system comes with the ability to create graphic-based mobile websites, build web scripts to capture mobile numbers, and manage keyword campaigns with dynamic coupon codes and groups to architect a comprehensive mobile marketing process in your business.

We also will be utilizing the AC wiki for part of this experiment which offers a simple and practical use of the wiki for mobile interfacing. Be ready with cell phone in hand for this webinar so you can test drive the system live with us.

As always, the webinar begins at 11:30 am EST on Thursday January 21. We begin promptly going through a 5-minute orientation before diving into the material itself.

Using the static FBML application on Facebook to create custom pages

Our next webinar is for AC Social and will be held on Thursday January 7 at 11:30 am EST. You can register for this webinar series from the training page or by clicking this link. Remember that we run 3 webinar series so although you may be registered for one series does not mean you are registered for this one. You can read more information about this from the training page.

The exercise for this webinar will be on how to create a custom page on your Facebook Fan Page using the Static FBML application. The Static FBML application enables you to add advanced functionality to your Fan Page using HTML or FBML, like we did this year for our special holiday offer to create our fans and customers a custom page for their Fan Page. The webinar should be short and sweet, probably around 20-30 minutes.

FBML stands for Facebook Markup Language which is exactly what it says, a markup language specific to Facebook. We will not be getting into the use of this markup language, only showing how to add it to your Fan Page and then how to insert HTML into it to create your custom page.

To utilize this application, click on the Applications tab that appears at the bottom left corner of your browser when logged in to your Facebook account. You will most likely also have to select to “Browse more Applications”. From there, do a search for ‘fbml’ in the search box above the application category types. Now you should see the static FBML application. Click that and then from there look for a blue box labeled “Go to Application”. Once you click that then you will be propositioned to “allow” this application on your Fan Page. Once that is done then go to your Page admin and “edit” the application by inserting your code and you are done.

You can visit the Static FBML application page on Facebook for more information or to become a Fan. We will be recording this webinar so after it is complete and we polish up the recording we will then notify everyone who was registered when it is available on our Viddler group.

AWeber list configuration for WordPress

Email marketing continues to be one of the most effective and cost effective means for communicating your message to an audience. The best way to improve upon the ROI of your email marketing is by instituting a double opt-in sign up process. By doing so you can expect to see your response rates increase to 20, 40, or even 60% or more.

Setting up a double opt-in mailing list on your blog or website is not the most difficult thing to do, but there are some details to consider as well as some techniques that can be applied to enhance the customer experience. This includes things like having verification pages, auto responses, subject lines, etc.

Each of these elements plays an important role in initiating the customer experience so you want to be sure that the process and information you prepare is accurate, in tact, and effective. These are the technicalities behind permission-based email marketing that have a lasting effect for people, so it is worth learning this and putting in the time required.

In this week’s List Builder webinar we will be covering some of the basics for setting up a double opt-in sign up process as described. In this webinar we complete the following exercises:

  • Create verification pages on your blog
  • Configure your list in AWeber
  • Apply form code using Hana Code Insert
  • Testing the process

Clearly you can see the added training in here for use of AWeber and Hana Code Insert. AWeber is list-building software that we use; Hana Code Insert is a WordPress plug-in that we have standard on our WPMU systems.

Theoretically we could hold a webinar for each of these three processes because they can be so involved, but in this instance we will be glossing over all three to provide comprehensive coverage of the entire double opt-in process.

Join us Thursday December 17 at 11:30 am EST for this extensive and highly technical live GoToWebinar. If you can not make it but are interested in the material, then sign up anyhow and we will add you to the AC Webinars archives on Viddler.com where you can view this (when it becomes available) and past live webinars featured on our website.

Introducing the new AutoConversion channel on YouTube

With the roll out of our new video product for auto dealers we ended up starting a channel on YouTube to publish the videos. The videos include content specific for auto shoppers which does not mix well with our video content on Viddler.com, so we it worked out that this content would appear on a YouTube channel.

With the advent of this new video channel we are dedicating this next webinar to give members a tour of the new channel.

The webinar will be short and sweet. We will spend the first few minutes going over our webinar training program for those new to our webinars. We then will jump right in to showing the new YouTube channel and what auto dealers and shoppers can expect from the channel.

To register for this webinar, click here (or the button below) for the AC Video series, fill in the required information and then expect to receive instructions for connecting to the webinar at 11:30 am EST on Thursday December 3. By registering you will automatically be included on all future AC Video webinars (about every 6 weeks) plus you will receive access to our webinars archive where you can watch and listen to past webinars at your leisure.

Discussing the impact of Google and Microsoft including Facebook and Twitter in Search Results

This month for our AC List Builder Webinar we are shifting focus to the latest announcements by Google and Microsoft about including Twitter and Facebook fodder into their search results. This is major news in the online marketing realm because it effects every business and online marketer pursuing a search marketing and social media strategy, so we have decided to dedicate this week’s webinar to this topic.

Earlier this week we posted a video about this to our blog which you may want to watch as well. It’s in the post labeled A Big Bang for SEO and Social Media.

For the webinar we will start by going through a slide show that was put together by Peter Caputa over at HubSpot. It’s a short slide show so we will also journey through his commentary of the subject on the HubSpot blog. All-in-all we expect our webinar to last about 20-30 minutes but we may open it up for discussion if there are not too many people attending.

To register for this webinar, click here (or the button below) for the AC List Builder series, fill in the required information and then expect to receive instructions for connecting to the webinar at 11:30 am EST on Thursday November 12.
